<<철제오브제>> 프로젝트는 『사슴, 아무데도 없는 형상』, <금속성의 오브제> 연작, 그리고 <소장품 리스트> 이렇게 책 한 권과 두 개의 리스트로 이뤄져 있다. 이 프로젝트는 학과 수업 과제로 만들어져 버려질 처지였던 철제 오브제를 작품으로 살려 내고자 하는 일련의 과정이다.『사슴, 아무데도 없는 형상』은 이 프로젝트를 진행하며 적어 온 글들의 모음이다. 철제 오브제의 생존 가능 여부를 고민해온 과정을 담고 있다. 먼저 철제 오브제를 살리기 위한 가장 중요한 도구를 철제 오브제 본연의 심상을 찾는 것으로 시작했다. 철제 오브제에서 내게로 다가오는 감각을 확장시켜 심상이 발현되길 바랐고, 감각을 확장시켜보고자 철제 오브제의 친구들을 만들어 주기로 했다. 그리고 바로 그 친구들이 <금속성의 오브제> 연작, 그리고 <소장품 리스트>이다. 위 과정으로 어느 수준의 철제 오브제의 심상이 파악되었다고 가정하기로 했다. 그리고 그 심상을 발현시키기 위해 철제 오브제를 다루는 나와 비슷한 처지라 여긴 연신내의 '연신내 욜로길'이라는 상권 살리기 프로젝트를 참조했다.

보통의 작품 혹은 상징물은 모두 그것의 기반이 되는 전제 작업 혹은 역사가 존재한다. 그러나 철제 오브제는 그 어떤 역사나 전제 작업이 존재하지 않았기에 작품이 되지 못하고 죽을 수 밖에 없는 운명이었다. 그래서 선택한 것이 바로 그 역사를 직접 만들어 주는 것이었다. 결과적으로 이 프로젝트는 실패했고 철제 오브제는 죽었다. 그러나 철제 오브제는 책 한 권과 두 개의 리스트를 파생시킨 단단한 전제 작업으로서 우리들 마음에서 죽지 않았다고 자평하겠다.

The Metal Object project consists of one book and two lists: Deer, nowhere figure, the Metallic objects series and Collection list. This project was established to revive "the Metal Object", which was in position produced as an assignment for a college class and going to be abandoned needlessly.

Deer, nowhere figure is a collection of writings dealing with a process that I have been agonising over concerning the viability of the Metal Object during this project. I thought the most important tool to save the Metal Object is to find the impressive sense of its own. Thus, I wanted the impression to express by expanding the sense transferred from the Metal Objects to me. As a way for it, I decided to create the Metal Object's friends, which can expand its impression through their senses, and those friends are the Metallic objects series and Collection list.

Authorities of almost works or statues are created based on their former works or history. However, the Metal Object was destined to die before becoming an artwork because it has no history or previous works. So the alternative I found was to make its own history firsthand.

In consequence, this project failed, and the Metal Object passed away. Instead, I would say to myself that the Metal Object did not die in our mind, as a solid premise practice that creates derived one book and two lists.
